DRIFTWOOD - Els Dietvorst
The videos, drawings and texts of Els Dietvorst are the result of long running projects that revolve around the condition humaine. She constructs stories without end, fragments of time patiently knit together on the rhythm of life itself.
In 1999 she makes, as a response to the war in Kosovo, SKULL 1, a sculpture pending from the roof construction in her studio on the military estate of Brasschaat, Belgium. In 2008 follows SKULL2, a protest against the cages of Guantanamo, made on the roof of M HKA. In 2015 she honours thousands of refugees with the construction of SKULL3 during the Moscow Biennale.
In the exhibition DRIFTWOOD, Els Dietvorst brings these stories together for the first time.
